Arras, France

We have arrived!

Today we’re chilling out, walking around the city, seeing the sites. We went to the tourist office to get our pilgrim’s passport stamped and ask about Vimy Ridge and the underground tours. The underground tours start right at the tourist office and the next available tour is 14:30. The office closes for lunch, as do many other establishments, something that one has to consider and get used to when in Europe. The office opens again at 14:00. We have about 2 hours to kill so we go for lunch at Emilie & Cool Kids

Entering the main square
Having a gluten free lunch
Walking around the city after lunch looking for the post office, which is open over the lunch hour.
The pipe organ over the entrance to the Cathedral of Arras
Looking toward the high alter from near the main door
Getting on our PPE to go down into the WW1 tunnels under Arras
The entrance to the tunnels
This is the way we came down
The first head-banging experience
Off to the right
Low ceiling
Drinks in the square after being in the tunnels for about an hour
