Day One: On our way to Tralee from Dublin

Passing The Temple Pub on our way to the Dublin train station

Morning coffee at the train station in Dublin ☘️
Europe just seems so civilized with its rail service to almost everywhere. Why even own a car here!?
We arrived in Tralee at 3:00 pm (or 15:00 as they say it in Europe) and immediately headed to Mountain Warehouse to buy hiking poles, or “sticks” as they call them, which explains why I couldn’t find them when I searched their site. Anyway…
Bought the “sticks”, (now we have 8 pairs because airlines won’t allow them as carryon so we mail them home after each trip)
And headed to the tourist office to pick up our official Kerry Camino passport.
At the start of the trail, mile 0 in Tralee

We hit the trail much later than anticipated and the rough conditions; loose rocks, sheep poop, etc. Made hiking a little slower than usual. We finished the first section around 8:15 pm but John, the owner of the BnB stayed true to his word and saves us a room.

The only mishap aside from Catherine wiping out and doing a face-plant on some rocks and suffering a split lip is that somewhere along the way we lost one of our water bottles, the full one, and we had to ration the water that we had left for the last 9km.
