Arrived at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France.
The flight was uneventful except for near the very end of the flight.
The “incident”:
When booking the tickets, I selected the gluten free meal option. It went well except for breakfast which was served about an hour before landing.
A few minutes after getting breakfast, a stewardess appeared at our seats and appeared concerned. She asked if we had eaten the pastry.
Someone had accidentally added a hot pastry on top of the fruit. So…yeah! After landing, Catherine spent 3 hours in the washroom in Charles de Gaulle airport. Luckily our flight to Toulouse was delayed.
Toulouse:
We arrived at the airport in Toulouse and called Uber to take us to our accommodation for the next 3 days.
It was a smallish, no bedroom, bachelor apartment in the medieval part of the city down a narrow alley that the Uber driver couldn’t quite get to due to construction.
It was maybe a small room but meticulously clean, with a private bathroom with shower, a small kitchenette, a Nespresso coffee maker and the all important corkscrew for wine!
It was also in a great location in the centre of the old city, and at a decent price.

Day 2, Toulouse
We spent the afternoon walking around the old city, both sides of the river, but mostly the north side. This is where all the really interesting shops, restaurants, and bars are. It’s also where the university is, which would explain a lot.
It always amazes me how the French preserve and renovate the historic old buildings, many of which are well over 400 years old, as opposed to tearing them down and building something “modern”.
It also amazes me how the city comes to life after 7:00 pm. Most restaurants that serve supper don’t open until after 7pm. The bars? Well…that’s another story 😉🥂
