24 km to Lauzerte
Today is one of the longer days of the hike. Not something to look forward too.
We ended up hiking 25km today. But not too bad because we split it up into 2 sections and stopped for lunch in Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc at a sidewalk pub. The owner said the kitchen was closed but the pizza joint two doors over could make us a big salad.
The distance would have been ok, except that the last 2 km were crazy difficult and muddy. According to my watch I got my heart rate up to 135, (is that a good thing?) I think that it was from all the swearing at the trail markers and the mud.
The destination today is a much larger town and the accommodations are in a tower of the ancient city walls of Lauzerte.

It started with a few dark clouds and an ever so light drizzle so we ducked into a little church here to put on our rain gear.

the table inside.

It started to pour shortly after and the dark clouds grew to cover much of the sky so rather than wait out the rain we improvised a plastic poncho to cover our packs so that we might haveaw some dry clothes to put on at the end of the day.
M

the tourist office told us and I’ve since forgotten but the jest of it is that it’s a snub to Paris.
