Day 5, Wissant to Guines

We left the hotel early, there was no coffee maker in the room, there wasn’t really much of anything worth mentioning about “The Hotel” and most of it, is stuff I’d rather forget.

We headed out to the post office to mail some post cards. Then sat outside a cafe across from the church, under the cafe’s awning, and then it started to rain. But we got to have our morning coffee before heading out into the rain.

In the rain with the village of Wissant behind us.
Trail markers at critical inspections
I forgot it was Sunday! Most places still close on Sundays, BUT…About 2 hrs into our walk we came upon a small village with a bar that was open, a place to warm up, dry off, and get out of the rain for a few minutes, and the proprietor made us coffee.
A solemn reminder of the area we’re walking through.
Crossing fields
Leaving the forest after a totally stupid back-track, see the next picture.

Our route today and finally arrived in the village of Guines this afternoon, although there’s nothing really here and the nearest grocery store was over 2km away. I KNOW! I walked it.
